Active Six-Dimensional 6D Tape for Treating Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Thumb Tendonitis

Self-care kit for treating carpal tunnel syndrome and thumb tendonitis. Includes treatment instructions and pre-cut 6D handle tapes for two treatment sessions lasting 3–10 days.

Purpose

Pain relief, reducing swelling and inflammation, and treating surgical scars in the wrist and thumb area through soft tissue manipulation. Suitable for use before and after surgery. Soft tissue manipulations can increase scar area mobility and flexibility, detach scars attached to connective tissue, and reduce swelling.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (canalis carpi) is a condition caused by compression of the median nerve in the carpal tunnel. When swelling compresses the median nerve, numbness, tingling, and weakness occur in the hand.

Thumb Tendonitis, or de Quervain’s syndrome, is a painful condition caused by inflammation and swelling of two tendons that control thumb movement. The swelling compresses nearby nerves, causing pain and numbness.

The pain-causing swelling consists of proteins that accumulate fluid and grow as a result. Fluid-filled proteins accumulate in the interstitial space and cannot move into the lymphatic system, leading to swelling in the area. 6D Tape activation opens the openings on the surface of the lymphatic vessels, allowing proteins to move into the lymphatic system. Lymph fluid, which travels through the lymphatic vessels, carries the proteins away from the pain site through the lymphatic system and out of the body through metabolism, thus reducing swelling. When swelling no longer presses on nerve endings, pain is also alleviated.

In addition to helping proteins causing swelling move into the lymphatic system, 6D Tape activation supports the natural pumping function of lymphatic vessels. By enhancing lymphatic pumping, 6D Tape treatment has been proven to increase lymph flow. It is recommended to drink plenty of water during 6D Tape treatments as other waste materials are also removed from the body along with the lymphatic fluid.

Dosage

Read the treatment instructions included in the package.

All 6D Tape handle tape application and activation methods described in the instructions can be used to relieve symptoms and pain in the wrist area before and after surgery. In some cases, surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome or thumb tendonitis can be avoided if 6D Tape handle tape is used immediately after symptoms appear.

When symptoms appear: Apply the 6D Tape handle tape and begin activation according to the instructions included in the package as soon as symptoms appear in the wrist area.

Before and after surgery: You can apply and activate the tape before surgery. Immediately after surgery, attach the 6D Tape handle tape to the supraclavicular area and elbow area as instructed. You can begin 6D Tape activation in the supraclavicular and elbow area immediately after surgery. Start activation in the scar area of the wrist only after the stitches have been removed, 2–4 weeks after surgery. Initially, activate the scar area carefully. The scar area will reach full tensile strength only 6 weeks after surgery, after which the scar area can be treated like healthy skin.

  • Supraclavicular area: First, activate the supraclavicular area by pressing and gently lifting the handle 15–30 times or for about one minute.
  • Elbow area: Continue activation in the elbow area by pressing, lifting, and rotating the handles for one minute. Start with the upper handle and continue with the lower handle.
  • Wrist area: Continue activation by pressing, lifting, and rotating the handles in the wrist area for five minutes as instructed. Start with the upper handle, continue with the lower handle, and vice versa. After surgery, begin activation only after the stitches have been removed, 2–4 weeks post-surgery.

Repeat treatment every 3–4 hours.

Note: Do not start treatment immediately, as the tape adhesive reaches maximum adhesion 15 minutes after application. The 6D Tape handle tape should be applied to the skin at least 30 minutes before starting physical activity.

Additional Information

6D Tape handle tape is designed to enable tissue mobilization in six different directions. The six directions are forward, sideways, and upward along the x, y, and z axes, as well as rotational movements around each axis. Tissue mobilization positively affects lymphatic flow, blood circulation, fascia, scar tissue, muscles, and joints. Tissue activation through upward and downward movement of the handles promotes tissue metabolism and fluid flow.
